[563] Notes: John CONDON was known to my mother as 'Uncle Little Jack', to distinguish him from his sister Kathleen's husband John TREW, who was known as 'Uncle Big Jack'. John TREW was the elder of the two 'Jacks', hence he was 'Big Jack'. Confusingly (for my mother and others), Big Jack was physically much smaller than Little Jack!

Notes: Eliza's baptism does not appear in Ann J Kings's register
transcript. However, there was an Eliza HAGGER baptised on 24 Dec 1815, the
daughter of George and Mary HAGGER. This baptism is not in IGI. Assuming that
the IGI is more likely to be in error, John and Mary may never have had a
daughter Eliza? A look at the actual baptism register should determine the
facts.

Notes: Harold HAGGER was executed in 1947 for the murder of Dagmar
PETRZYWALSKI (aka PETERS). Some further details can be found here.
At some time prior to his second (bigamous) marriage in 1940, Harold seems to
have changed his name to Sidney SINCLAIR. According to the certificate,
he was even in the Army as Sidney SINCLAIR, although this could be yet another
of Harold's deceptions.
Harold HAGGER is known to have had a son, but his name and details are not
included here, out of respect for his privacy (if he is still alive), and that
of his family.
Occupation
1917 Baker (enlistment into the Army). Harold was well underage (16) when
he enlisted on 2 Aug 1917. After his father produced Harold's birth
certificate, he was discharged on 4 Oct 1917, having served for 64 days.
1927 Labourer (marriage to Sophia Elizabeth COTTON)
1940 Sapper, Royal Engineers, No.2199819 (General Labourer) - and calling
himself Sidney SINCLAIR (mariage to Daisy Emily OAKLEY)
1947 Motor Lorry Driver (death certificate)

birth certificate
Approximate year of birth calculated from:
1901 census of Islington, Middlesex -
aged 1 [actually only 4 days old], born Holloway, London
[5441] Source: Photocopy of GRO death certificate (supplied by Wendy Ford). The certificate erroneously records Harold's age as 48. He was actually 45, just 9 days short of his 46th birthday.
[9167] Source: Copy of GRO marriage certificate. Both parties gave their residence as Campbell Road. Perhaps by coincidence, on Charles Booth's 1898/99 Poverty Map, Campbell Road is the only one in the area which is marked as, "Lowest Class. Vicious, semi-criminal". Maybe it was still as bad in the 1920s?
[9168] Source: Copy of GRO marriage certificate. The groom was recorded as a bachelor, and the bride a widow. Not only did Harold use the false name Sidney SINCLAIR, but he also committed bigamy. His first wife, Sophia, was very much alive, as is evident from her second marriage in 1949, two years after Harold's death.
