ALEXANDER AN68 ATLANTEAN
GREATER GLASGOW LA683 (HGD 889L)

This model is based on EFE's Alexander AJ Fleetline.
As such the body style is not strictly correct with the roof being too rounded and the upper
deck windows to shallow. However, this in my opinion does not ruin the effect of the model too much.
The changes made to EFE's casting are as follows:
Upper deck rear window pillar removed, upper deck front window pillar added.
Lower deck rear end modified as follows: Rear window lowered and bustle aperture narrowed,
thin plastic shrouds added to create correct shape,
bustle replaced with Atlantean AN68 white metal bustle, itself modified lightly.
Various minor interior modifications. Side indicators altered, wheel nuts added to front wheels, front fog lamps moulded with a dollop of filler.
As always, the support pillars were thrown away and the model superglued together. Die cast interiors are not always great and the stairs
on this model go up the wrong way for my prototype!
The model has since received a new route number more appropriate to a Parkhead bus.
Just one example of this batch of buses has survived into preservation - HGD 903L which is restored but awaiting GGPTE livery and is
complete with 2 doors. Sadly similar LA688 was very recently sold to a scrap
dealer as no buyer came forward to take the bus off it's preservationist owner's hands.
