Boulton Paul Balliol

The Balliol was designed to meet the RAF's requirement for an advanced trainer.  Although initially a turboprop aircraft was specified, the Balliol was to utilise the famous Rolls Royce Merlin engine.  The Association is restoring the cockpit section of Balliol WN149 using parts from another cockpit section of WN534.  Replica components are being made so that a full airframe can be put on display.

With the cockpit section now rolled back into the upright position, the floor has been repainted with the installation of the instrument panel and consoles about to commence. Strengthening brackets are being created to assist in the mating together of the cockpit section with the rear fuselage and that with the tail cone section.
