The site is on the gentle lower slopes of Brading Downs. Many pitches are level. The site has an outdoor heated swimming pool and paddling pool, Children's adventure playground, and one of the best stocked camping and Caravanning accessory shops on the Island.

Showers and washing facilities are excellent, with some 'family shower rooms' big enough for 4 people, baby baths and hair dryers in both of the shower blocks. There is a coin-op launderette, irons and spin-dryers.

My parents live on the Island - barely 2 miles away from the site, yet we have returned there to camp for 5 years! The site has a dog walk field with poop scoops, and many hook-ups. There's a stream adjacent with fishing, horse rides in one of the adjoining fields, and some children's activities on various days of the week - punch and Judy show, magic show. The site has a small take away, but no bar (nearest pub 1 mile), so is quiet at night.

We think you'd have to go far to find a site as good as this one, and will probably be there again for part of this summer.

We Traveled down to Portsmouth on the Thursday morning and made really good going, the journey only took 2hrs 30 mins. We were booked on the 1500hrs ferry but arrived at 1230hrs and got straight on.

ReceptionThe drive from Fishbourne to the site took about 35 mins. We had a warm and friendly welcome at reception and after booking in we found the pitch with no problems, just as we had set up a member of staff came to make sure everything was ok and offered to show us all the facilities. The touring pitches are below the pool and children's play ground. Most of the pitches are flat but some do slope a bit.

Play GroundWe had pitch 11 which is fairly close to children's playground which at times made it quite noisy. We also pitched under trees which was quite picturesque, but the dawn chorus was deafening at 6am ever morning. The non electric pitches around number 114 are along way from the club and pools so they are very quite.

DriveThere is the obligatory club house, with bingo tickets on sale every night and we won !!!!!! An out door heated pool with water slide. Small indoor pool with a spa and sauna. All weather Multi sports court. Tennis Courts. Shop and Launderette. The kids have their clubs, Tiger 5 to 7 year olds, Jungle Rangers 8 to 11 year olds and ATR for 12 to 17 year olds.

ToiletThe toilets were clean most of the time although not up to the standard of the camping and caravanning club they were acceptable. There is a family/Disabled shower room, with a small bath, toilet, sink and shower. A five pound deposit is required for a key.

PoolThe kids spent most of the time in the pool apart from when they were in their clubs, this kept the kids happy but meant that we did not see much of the Island.

There is a summer fields with in 10 min walk of the camp and a co op on the shanklin main street so if you wanted to you could avoid using the car. A weeks parking permit can be bought from the tourist information for £14. This entitles you to park in all the council Pay and Display car parks.

There is quite a lot to do on the Island, unfortunately the kids enjoyed the site so much they did not want to leave it, so we had little chance to explore the island. We did walk into old Shanklin which has some thatched cottages. We had a pub lunch at The Crab, which was quite good.

Over all we thought the site was really good, perfect for people with kids. The only negative comment I can make is that the Bar price's were a bit to high. What we saw of the island we liked and we hope to go back next year to see more of the island.
