Horsley, one of the Camping and Caravanning Club sites
is situated about 6 miles from J10 of the M25. This very picturesque
site with many pitches around the lake perimeter, these
pitches are always in demand. Fishing is allowed (I think there
may be a charge
now) There a more open pitches in two fields nearby. Toilet facilities
of which there are 2 blocks are of the highest standard and fairly new.
On site there is a recreation room with T.V. darts and table tennis
etc
.
This site gives a very peaceful ambience to it. And very popular
so advanced booking is advisable especially peak times.
One point whichever way you approach the site look out for the camping
sign because it is dead opposite the entrance lane, only it can get
hidden by tree branches etc.

This layout of this site is lovely set around a lake and a small woodland.
It is very clean and well maintained. The facilities are adequate, the
showers/toilets are clean. The childrens playground is rather small
and if
camping in the adjacent field it was difficult to keep an eye on them.
The woodland area proved a real adventure for the children and dog walkers
alike. However the tranquility of this site was spoiled to say the least
by the
warden. His manner was both arrogant and abrupt. He has no time for
children and was frequently seen peering through binoculars watching
campers every move. You felt uncomfortable at this site and it has certainly
put us off of
joining the camping and caravanning club. Apparently there site in Chertsey
is far worse, with no outdoor games involving balls allowed. And I thought
camping was supposed to be fun.
