Humberston
Thorpe Park Holiday Centre (Haven Holidays)
Date Visited: 03/08/09 to 6/08/09 Unit: Pennine folding camper. Arrived to a friendly reception and told to find a pitch in the touring area and then let the warden know which one we had chosen. The weather had been very wet the week before so our choice of pitch was limited to the few that were not under an inch of water. We found a reasonably dry one and warned by the tent next to us that the day before it had been under water. They had resorted to filling bin liners with sand to try and keep the water out of their tent. The Grass touring pitches certainly need some serious work on the drainage. The touring feild is now quite flat. We pitch and returned to the warden for keys to the shower block (£10 deposit for each key) and one for the disabled/family block as we had taken our young grand children with us. The shower block closest to us (53.536527°, 0.003448°) had two showers in both the men’s and women’s although reasonably clean, the floors seemed to be permanently wet. No mop to clean up after your self in the showers and these got muddy pretty quickly. No childrens play area near the touring pitches, the only one being within the entertainment complex, not even an empty space to play ball games. The swimming facilities where good and as expected got quite busy. We didn’t eat in any of the bars as the food was quite expensive for just the usual run of the mill, mass, pub grub. We did use the chip shop on the touring site, expensive but good. All the staff we spoke to or were served by where cheerful and helpful. The site is well placed for Cleethorpes as it is not too far away and has plenty around to keep every one entertained and well fed. This is a typical Haven site. We don’t normally use them if we are on our own but is good for the grandkids as plenty to keep them occupied if the weather is bad (which it was when we visited). I do get the impression though that haven goes out of their way to squeeze the last possible penny out of all there visitors We will probably use this again with the grand kids as they seem to enjoy it. My wife was quite ill whilst we where there and I was on our return home so this may have influenced my opinion so will give it another go just to see. Sent in By. Webmaster
Thorpe Park Holiday Centre Basically a site for static caravans with rather a bumpy
field for caravans/tents. The pitches were too close for comfort in
my opinion. Swimming pool, bars, supermarket, takeaway food shops and
entertainment on site. Plenty of walks along the seafront and a nearby
market provides
