If you go to the site of Creative Planet today, you’ll find an airfield – created in 1937 – that is no longer in use for its original purpose. This often windswept place has a somewhat unreal, dreamlike feel about it. Its rather barren landscape is punctuated by a central runway and by 11 giant hangars. It’s planned that soon the gates will be thrown open and that, once more, you can wander over its 562 acres at will. Ten years into the future, you may find yourself floating high above Creative Planet in a glider, amazed by the extent to which all this has been transformed - almost beyond recognition! You will discover a beautiful and sustainable landscape in the making. For a landscape doesn’t grow overnight and many of the trees of the replanted woodland may still be young saplings establishing their roots. Your attention may be caught by the farmland, by the community orchard or by the magical, myriad gardens. Dispersed amidst the greenery, you will discern those clusters of buildings that are called the Knowledge Farms: Heritage, Farming and Food, Landscapes, Living andCommunities, Business and Industry – you’ll recognise instantly the world-famousprofile of Creative Planet’s National Centre for Sustainable Development (NCSD), an icon of fine and environmentally-friendly architecture...

Reinforcing our ability to work closely with the University of Bath in Swindon, Sustainable Heritage will also boast an Academy of Museology, a study centre for curators and volunteers, a schools learning centre and workshops...

What about the countryside? That won’t be forgotten. Theywill have Knowledge Farms dedicated to Sustainable Farming and Sustainable Landscapes.
