2007 LEJOG Cycle Ride - Land's End to John O'Groats

Background

On 23rd June 2007 Mark set out to attempt to cycle solo from Land's End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in the Highlands of Scotland, the planned route would take around 14 days and cover approximately 1000 miles!

As you would expect, he was riding for charity. As a self-funded trip all donations go directly to the charity, in this case, "Babies Are Born Incredibly Early Sometimes" (B.A.B.I.E.S.). This is a Local Charity that supports the Lincoln County Hospital Special Care Baby Unit. www.lincoln-babies.co.uk.

In 2002 Mark's son was born 10 weeks prematurely, and after a week at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre Special Care Baby Unit (following a mad dash from Donington Park race circuit!), he spent a further 5 weeks on Lincoln's unit before eventually coming home. Although he was never seriously ill, it made him realise just how difficult a fight for life some new-borns have, and more importantly, just how vital it is that the nurses, doctors and staff have the right specialist equipment to deal with daily issues that arise.

Below is shown the dairy of events & pictures from this once in a lifetime trip & experience. Did Mark complete the journey? Well yes, but he certainly had his fair share of moments & hurdles on the way, read on & enjoy......
