SOLD OUT SEE NEW UK VERSION OF THIS RELEASE HERE
The EP opens with the track "Ending is The Beginning" and the screams and deep growls over the heavy guitar and intense drumming equal out to make quite the atrocious metal song, and even the pig comes out and gives us some wicked squeals, which are quite enjoyable and memorable. Breakdowns happen on this song, as well as throughout the album, like these guys found the Book of Breakdowns, crushed it up, and snorted it; so don't be surprised if you are in the car listening to this CD and get the urge to windmill kick your passenger. Songs like "Swarm" and "About A Plane Crash" display the bands ability to speed things up and keep them going at full pace, largely due to the expert drumming that stays sharp and clean throughout the album. In "Distorted Thought of Addiction" we are treated to a hailstorm of growls and intense guitar and drum work, that promptly brings this EP to its conclusion. The album wraps up with a live version of "Destruction of A Statue" which displays the bands ability to play their songs just as sharp and clean as they are on the produced album. The C.D. also contains an enhanced video of "Destruction of A Statue" giving those of you who can't make it to a live a show a taste of what the Silence can do on the set. All in all, this album picks you up at the start and takes you on a enjoyable high paced Death Metal Adventure, with a quick visit to Grindcore City and a prolonged tour of Breakdown Village, with no rest stops along the way. This album is a gem for those who love a fast, brutal, metal explosion in their ears, and it doesn't get much more nuts than this. Check this band out, especially if you get a chance to see them live, and pick up this EP for a great fest of brutality.

Extreme Metallic Terror From California
The Line between brutal death metal and post-Dillinger mathcore is now so completely blurred that it's hard to know exactly who Suicide Silence are trying to appeal to here. What really matters, however, is that they are 100 per cent shit hot. Tighter than a mallard's shit-chute and with pockets bulging with great riffs, spin-on-a-penny tempo shifts and hair-raising dynamic about turns, these young Americans have already mastered their art. And, judging by the live film of the band on this CD performing 'Destruction Of A Statue'. they're a staggering prospect inn the flesh too. These reprobates could well be the future of death. Rocksound Magazine 8/10
Often the success of a debut release can decide a group's future fate. In other words, if a band fall at the first hurdle it's either back to the drawing board or back to the nine-to-five day job, as they say. Suicide Silence's self titled debut mini-album fortunately leaps 2,000 feet over the first hurdle with this impressive blast of hardcore grind and technical death metal. All the way from Riverside, California, these guys can pack punches as big as Cephalic Carnage and the rest of them. Vocalist Mitch Lucker's contorted growls represent one of the more outstanding features on this five tracker, though his voice is well complemented by two impressive guitarists - Chris Garza & Mark Heylmun. buy this is you dare. Drowned In Sound 8/10
This band is the equivalent of a musical lynch mob. You will flee for your life as Suicide Silence pelt you with an almost impenetrable cacophony. You thank the heavens that there are only five tracks you have to dodge. Any more and you’d be beyond exhausted and the fear of perishing would be all the more real. This eponymous debut EP immediately unleashes what seems to be the soundtrack to a hideous snuff movie with a caustic blend of doom sludge guitars and gut-grinding screams laid carefully and comfortably over some mind-bending, rapid-fire rhythm changes. Delicate, this is not. There seem to be some of those all-too-familiar metalcore breakdowns in ‘Ending Is The Beginning’ but you make the mistake of placing those brackets around this brutality at your own peril. The quintet show that they can shift from the almost painfully slow riffery on the opening track to the definitely painful, express train version of their band for the next tracks before ‘Distorted Thought Of An Addiction’ brings the record to a dangerously abrupt end. This record provides 16 grizzly minutes of fierce and unorthodox musical pain. If that sounds a bit tasty, wait ‘til you find out what it thinks of you.

Zero Tolerance 5/5
I've had a copy of this absolutely monstrous Cd for a little while before receiving it to spout forth nonsense about it, so knew what to expect, thankfully. This is thoroughly sickeningly in its heaviness, in it's relenting battering of the senses, and if you like Meshuggah, My Cross to Bare, Origin, All Shall Perish, Iniquity and Job For A Cowboy, you're in for an absolute treat with this one! Takes a few listens to really get into the rhythms, but when it clicks, the whole thing seems about 50 times heavier again! Ravaging chugs, dischords to kill to and vocals to hang yourself by.

Some bands are just built to take your head off and California based blast-metallers Suicide Silence are one of those bands. Mixing chaotic Dillinger Escape Plan like whacked out fretwork with a Cannibal Corpse style chug, these metalcore kids play the sort of metal that, given the right live setting would cause absolute pandemonium in the pit. Playing with the kind of ferocity that only comes from relentless touring, Suicide Silence are up their with the best of the underground metal scene. Listening to their current mini-album, it's no wonder that hotbed of underground metal In At The Deep End has picked them up because, quite frankly, this band kill it!

RockARolla
Suicide Silence's self titled debut is a downright punishing, cathartic and sonically carnivorous release. The EP includes four studio tracks as well as 'Destruction Of A Statue' which doubles as a live track and video. Taking the harsh parts from the death and metal genres, the band has created an unholy barrage of turbulent riffing, blastbeats and absolutely mopnstrous breakdowns. like some horrendous mix of Eternal Suffering, Exhumed and All Shall Perish. Suicide Silence play music to torture people with. Fuck using Metallica to interrogate people, this is the stuff. It is the sound track to a personal war with insanity, anger and hatred, led by vocalist mitch Lucker who has mastered screaming, grunting and growling to produce frightening results. The songs are all relentless and the time changes will definitely catch people off guard as the band, showcase their technical ability. The breakdowns employed by Suicide Silence are simply devastating and will surely provoke bloody violence in the live environment. This must be listened to if you like visceral and heavy music.

A Load Of Noise Zine
Suicide Silence must be listened to if you like harsh, heavy and fast music. Originally released on Third Degree Records this 5 track CD has been licensed to IATDE and it kills! The sound is an abrasive, bludgeoning fusion of death metal and grind played with stunning efficiency. Think early Cephalic Carnage mixed with Exhumed and you'll have an idea of where SS are coming from. Frontman Mitch Luckeris definitely one iof the sickest vocalists I've heard lately and he has mastered screaming, grunting and growling to produce frightening results. The songs are powerfully heavy, the production bringing out the ferocity of the band brilliantly; with molten guitars laying waste whilst the rhythm section brings the low end frequency, double bass kicks and crashing chinas during the breakdowns. If you like your death/grind breakdown free however fear not as Suicide Silence aren't using them to fit into the metalcore pack but throw them in when you least expect it to compliment their blast beats and time changes. This CD is easily some of the heaviest and nastiest stuff i've heard recently and will stand out amongst the thousands of bands trying to be heavy.

Last Hours
Fuck me, this is brutal. From their name I was expecting some kind of haircut metal-core wank, but Suicide Silence actually play incredible extreme metal which blends influences from a myriad of different genres. They switch from fast death metal to breakneck grind-core with relentless drumming throughout, chucking in some massive breakdowns that made me want to smash someone’s face in. Usually this sort of music can be a bit too much for me and can get really confusing but Suicide Silence manage to keep a real clarity to their sound, are super tight and don’t just turn into a noisy blur. I can only imagine that this would be even better live. Seriously worth checking out. (Greg)

Communion 8/10
The only good bit of metal I got to review this week. Possibly the only good metal release this week – no excuses for not buying it then. Suicide Silence sound like a less overtly tech Cephalic Carnage if they loved good metallic hardcore. Don’t let the proliferation of deathmetalcore chancers put you off this one – Suicide Silence are clearly the real deal. Judging by the photos half them are proper death metal dudes who remember Deicide being good, whilst the other half were probably there when Judge first rolled in to town. All of this leads to obscenely guttural vocals, the thickest guitar tone this side of a Yorkie bar and epic DM riffs that you cant help gurning too. The riffs are incredible, the songs are well structured – another great addition to In At The Deep End. The live song tagged onto the end of this isn’t that hot – but that doesn’t matter so much. Roll on the full-length.

Metal is a interesting genre. The musicians can be so overwhelmingly brilliant but the music is so often lacking in innovativeness. I keep checking out metal bands that are recommended to me by friends or I see a positive review of and I'm left sitting there uninspired by almost all of it. For some bands, I even try to force myself to enjoy it but still can't manage too. Thank God, then, for Suicide Silence. I don't even have to try and I think it's great!
Technical, tight, sub-genre-melting, violent, intelligent. Hell, it's bands like this that make me over-look the pointless noisy grumblings of the singer! It's bands like this that remind me why I enjoy metal. And this is the first time I agree with the blurb sent along with the CD, "songs that are complex without being mystifying, and savagely fast and explosive without becoming a featureless blur". It's quite accurate. It's like Cephalic Carnage taken down a notch to make it slightly more comprehensible. Fantastically enjoyable. But don't expect much in the way of epic melodic melody.
