iatde004 - Beecher/The Leif Ericsson - Split 7"
Sale Prices
2 tracks from from each band, Beecher's first track sees them take a slightly slower slant, but don't worry this is still great stuff and has the great screamed parts in it. The Leif Ericsson (2 ex-members of Propagumbhis) hit you with their power pop punked up Hot Water Music stylings but still keeping it very British, catchy as fuck. This 7" is released in conjunction with both bands joint 8 day tour of the UK back in Feb 2002 and is limited to 500 so get your orders in.

Reviews
Fracture Zine

One of the Glossies recently compared Beecher top Lost Prophets, Pitchshifter & Linkin Park all in one foul swoop. What a bastard of a reviewer...he unwittingly probably lost Beecher more fans than they gained with his bizarre comparison potshots. So I'll refrain from making a similar tit of myself with any other misguided reference points and just say that their track 'Malfunction' is a solidly built slice of hardcore, with thick metallic guitars, a vocalist that can both sing and scream with conviction and a drummer that drills out lightning snare-fills as though his life depended on it. I don't much see the point of their second track though - a Psywarfare styled (dammit a comparison!) remix of a track from their CD that just sounds like technology gone haywire. One the flip Leif Ericsson rock things up with a couple of storming tracks of fiery melodic punk rock. They've graced a fair few stages in their previous bands (namely Propagumhis and Summer Book Club) and their proficiency shines through the sharp riffs they blaze through. It's hardly groundbreaking and the production is a little shallow, but their energy and fervency makes these two trackspositively infectious. Good Bands. Good Split.

Artcore
Beecher mix up between heavily sung melodics over stabbing heavy riffs to totally screamed moments. For some reason they remind me of something that would've come out the post-grunge era on the metal scene. The Leif Ericsson serve up a rough emotional melodic punk that is like a cross between (early) Seaweed and Grover (there's a Propagumbhis link coincidentally) All in all an enjoyable little intro to both bands.

Reason To Believe
There are 2 tracks from each band here. Beecher play a kind of heavy melodic hardcore with a mixture of screamy and sung vocal parts. I like the sung parts best personally because Ed has a really good voice, but it works quite well. There is something a bit different about their style, which I can't place but it's a good thing! The dynamics are really powerful so it's hard to get bored. The second track is a bit bizarre though - about a minute of crazy distortion and then it's over. The Leif Ericsson consist of members of the Propagumhis, Burn All Flags and the Summer Book Club and they play a Hot Water Music style of melodic punk. The production quality doesn't seem all that great, but the songs are pretty rocking and catchy.

Kind
''oooh a big black cd!'' ...nope... what we have here is that stuff of old, VINYL! - yay! and once more we have a 7" split! made as memorabilia for the Beecher / Leif Ericsson tour, and here we have two tracks from each band, kicking us off is Beecher, ok so these guys have been named as Britain’s answer Dillinger Escape Plan but this first track has a more Hundred Reasons feel to it nothing like what we’ve heard before from these guys, ok maybe there was emo bits in the ep (resention is a big word in a small town) but not to this extent. The second track couldn’t be any different, sounding like Dillinger skull fucking R2D2! This is noise of the finest, being deconstructed using all kinds of computer malarkey. Now we turn this baby over and what do we have? Leif Ericsson with some punk rock action and a slight emo edge to them, featuring members from such bands as Propagumhis and Summer Book Club, this is there only release at the moment. Buy this (if you still can) for more slices of Beecher and to introduce your selves to the Leif Ericsson.
