October 2009 sees the biggest site update in a few years!
There's a new Car of the Month, but, inspired by the great 50th Anniversary event at Prescott, I've updated the Chassis page with the production figures that were listed in the Programme by Marcos Heritage and added an entry in the Models page to include the oft forgotten (and never productionised) 1962 XP.
In addition, there's a new page for Related Marques, for now covering the Adams brothers Probes and the Costin Amigo, but this will expand to cover other marques with a Marcos connection, such as the Farbia (Chris Marsh's latest venture) and tne Monica (Chris Lawrence's lovely 4 seater GT with the Martin engine that the Adams brothers always wanted in the GT).
Finally, I've added some more links to Marcos video clips on the Video page - Another big thank you to Marcos stalwart Christian Fey for many of the links.
The really observant might also notice that the pre 2007 Car of the Month images have moved off to a Fotopic site. As well as the older Car of the Month shots, you will also find other Marcos related images (including earlier rallies and some racing shots, on the site, so take a look!.
Of course, 2009 was dominated by the big 3 club event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Marcos.
Friday 14th August saw a Scenic Tour, whilst Saturday 15th August saw a visit to Sudeley Castle for a special Concourse event followed by an anniversary evening meal in the Lodge at Prescott.
Sunday 16th August was the icing on the cake at Prescott. Owners got to 'Drive the Hill' and we all got to see some very special Marcos (And related - An Adams Probe and a Costin Amigo featured) cars from every era, meet the owners and catch up with old friends at Prescott Hill Climb course.
With the Mantis XP over from America, the Probe 15 just finished and in from Switzerland, the Le Mans LM600 and 1968 GT and over 200 cars present it was an incredible turnout. Add in people related to the Marque like Jem Marsh, Rory McMath, Peter Adams (I think Leigh was there, too), Chris Lawrence and Phillip Hulme (the boss of Computacenter, who made the 1995 Le Mans LM600 project a possibilty and financially backed Marcos during the 90s glory years) and it was even more special (and probably never to be repeated).
It was great too to see my old friend, Goran Mitevski (owner of the Probe 15) and Ned, Chris and Roberta Morris, who were all so welcoming when I'd visited them and the XP in 2002, once again as well as people I see more frequently having a great time.
If you're an owner or a just a fan of the marque (or of classic cars generally), you really needed to be there.
To say it was a great day is not to do it anything like justice, but I've written up (with some photos) my impressions as a new Diary Page (You won't have seen one of those for a while!) and there are many more of my photos on my fotopic site. - I've tried to avoid reusing photos between the two sites, so you'll need to look at both to see them all!
There is an also addendum to my XP visit story to cover my reunion with it and the Morris family at Prescott - Again, this continues a few photos of the XP not seen elsewhere and the interest in the XP (including the feature in Classic and Sportscar magazine) mean I've given it a direct link from the menu.
I'm always in need of new images for Car of the Month or from races (or the Rally!), so keep the photos coming as more original shots are always welcome - E-mail me with your photos now!
I first launched this site as far back as 1995 (so almost ancient by Web standards and almost worth a celebration of its own in 2010!) and you can see what it looked like then (more or less) here.
If you've any comments, drop me an E-mail and don't forget to E-mail me photos of your cars for Car Of The Month - If you don't have access to a scanner, E-mail me for my postal address so I can get your car on the Net.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy the Unofficial Marcos Homepage and continue to return to it for more information on Marcos cars over the coming months.
