I have been interested in railways for a long time. My interests include both full size railways, steam and modern as well as model railways. Rather than try and cover a little bit of everything here I am going to concentrate primarily on full sized steam. So with the aid of a camera and scanner time to open the regulator.
The Swanage Railway is what I consider my home preserved railway. Although it is no longer the closest to where I live it is the closest to where I come from in Dorset and I have in the past when time permitted done some volunteer work on the line.
Between the 24th and 28th of October 1998 I visited a number of narrow gauge steam lines in the Saxony region of Eastern Germany. This was on the Steam Railway Steam Break SB27 which provided rides on a number of lines and line siding possibilities. A number of special trains were organised with the resulting supply of photo opportunities. I present here a taste of German narrow gauge steam in the area from the photographs I took during the five days.
