We met in 1994 when I was running a gay club night. Mike's a Doctor of Sums at Sheffield Hallam University, as well as a leading light in Gay Abandon, the Yorkshire gay choir. He's also heavily involved in Victor Victoria, who run queer balls, and Celebrate!, an annual queer week in Scotland (sadly in its last year - so he can't be that good at it, can he?).
Margaret Michalowski was born several hundred years ago (although she only looks about 50!!) and is lovely. She lives in Chesterfield where she's apparently very proud she has an author as a son - even if it's only Doctor Who. She got herself in the local papers when Relative Dementias came out, complete with a picture of her reading it.
Julie Michalowski was born only a year and five months after me (although she looks about 500!!). She's very clever and has a high-up job in Calderdale Health, closing down children's kidney wards and what-not. She's currently in Eastern Europe (Poland and Russia) for a year - which strikes me as a very scary thing to do (although she speaks some Polish and Russian, which I don't, which I'm sure will help).
Lulu - the grey one - and Barnsley - the black and white one - are, you may be surprised to know, our cats. Lulu's suspicious, aloof and clever (but loves rubbing noses with people once she knows them); and Barnsley's stupid, friendly, and always getting in scraps, and has a wonky eye that makes him look like Patrick Moore! |
