Aylestone Athletic R.F.C.
are a rugby union club based in Leicester, England. We currently run three or four teams every Saturday from our base at Victoria Park, Leicester. If you are interested in playing, please scroll down for contact details of our team captains, coach and fixtures secretary. Players of all levels from novice to Premier League will receive an equally warm welcome.

Training
Rugby training sessions are held on Tuesdays 7pm. In addition, during the off-season (May until August) we play "touch rugby" on the park each Saturday at 3pm. In addition we have Sprint Training sessions at Saffron Lane Sports Centre on Thursdays at 630pm. All sessions are informal and fun, but remain competitive and are a good way to both keep fit and learn/improve your game. We have players aged 14-55 at these sessions and ladies from Stoneygate Ladies 1st XV also join us for the Saturday sessions.

NEW PLAYERS PLAYERS

Novice Players
Our club welcomes all levels and offers training, mentoring, etc. of the highest order.

Experienced Players
1st XV playing competitive league rugby in Midlands 5 following promotion last season.
2nd XV playing high standard merit table league rugby.
3rd XV a mixture of novice players and experienced vets players (The Heart of the Mighty Ath!!)

4th Team make at least one outing per year but are often of such a good quality they are played as a 3rd XV Barbarian side (i.e. they throw the ball around a lot and play "champagne style" rugby, weather permitting).

Promotion
Last season our 1st team gained promotion to Midlands 5 East. This is the first time in living memory that the club has been promoted and is a ringing testament to the growth of our player base, and that we can attract quality players through making every game, training session and social event VERY enjoyable for everyone who attends.

Overseas Players
Overseas players flock to our club due to the friendly welcome and the promise of cold (or warm) beer and the occasional bout of out-of-tune singing.

Unfortunately we cannot pay player. Our players are all very committed to the club and some will regularly travel as much as 100 miles each Saturday to play, so if any overseas players are looking for enjoyable rugby and a supportive and active social side of the game, you will not be disappointed.

Players from all ethnic backgrounds are welcome and we have regular players from a wide diversity of both nationality and religion.

Interested in joining us?
If you're interested, either pop down on a Tuesdays at 7pm, or a Saturday afternoon. We usually meet around 3pm for off-season touch, and 1:45pm for games during the season. We meet close to, or inside, the pavilion across the road from The Old Horse pub (you can't miss us).
