.: History - The beginning :.

The kind of music that will one day fill stadiums And eventually dominate the globe.

A band who know their musical capabilities, and have cut their teeth in Glasgow's gig scene.

The concept of the band was conceived in November 1999, although it wasn't until January 2001 that the first line up had their first rehearsals. Songs came in quickly, and after various line-up changes the foundations of Syth were set.

March 2001 would see the first gig in Strawberry Fields, a well-known venue in Glasgow, and a regular spot would soon follow with the band playing gigs between Strawberry Fields and another established venue, 'Fury Murrays' also in Glasgow.

Not much would change for the rest of the year as the band continued gigging (and in the process becoming an energetic live act), writing and working towards becoming the best.

The beginning of 2002 saw the band part company with their singer Richard Cantwell, and with the band now a four piece and Shaun taking the vocal duties, something clicked, all at once it came together, So at the beginning of March the guys recorded a demo of four of their songs.

The rest of 2002, while it saw more gigs, lacked a great deal in creativity for the band and a near feel of 'tediousness' waiting in the wings. So it was decided that October 02 in the 13th Note would signal the last gig for the band as creating new songs became the top priority.

In early 2003, the band began regular studio visits, with various ideas old and new that needed the Syth treatment, the result was half a dozen brand new songs by May during which also saw new focus and drive from the band, more determined than ever the writing continues with the mighty Syth returning at a packed Nice'n'Sleazy.

2004 would see more gigs with the band venturing south of the border for the first time to Liverpool, and a gig with former Maiden frontman Blayze Bayley in April to name but a few.

In late September the band recorded an EP showcasing the bands ongoing rawness which has continued to attract more fans with each gig. The band also reached the final of the Rock Idol contest in the Cathouse but it would seem that Syth are to be part of a greater scheme in the grand design of music, losing out, they bounced back the very next night rocking a packed Cathouse to it's foundations. Now with a host of new fans it looks as if 2005 is going to be a very interesting one indeed ...
