The Scout Fellowship File

Contents | Obtaining a Copy of the File | Cost | Updates

The 'Scout Fellowship File' is a new resource (launched in June 2000), designed to help ensure that local Scouting benefits from the provision of Active Support by focused, well supported Scout Fellowships.

Designed as a series of separate Fact Sheets (to allow easy updating at reduced cost), the File is available as a collection of loose leaf pages and indexes, suitable for insertion into an A4 ring-binder (punched for two holes) - all you provide is the folder. Each of the separate Fact Sheets can be downloaded by clicking on the relevant link below

What's In the File?

The new version of the File replaces all previous versions of the Scout Fellowship File or any previous pamphlets or booklets. It fully incorporates the outcome of the Committee of the Councils 1999 Review of the Role of the Scout Fellowship.

It is written by a team with many years practical experience with the Scout Fellowship, but also contains input from other volunteers involved in developing other resources found most useful in other areas of the Scout Association.

As well as practical advice and information it also includes ideas new to the Scout Fellowship. These include lists of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which refer you to the relevant Fact Sheet for further reading and 'Healthchecks' to allow you to judge the well-being of your Scout Fellowship.

Note that the initial versions of the Fact Sheets have no revision number or date and that these will be added as and when revised versions are issued. Any revised Fact Sheets will be downloadable from this page, using the Fact Sheet name as the link (when live).

The File is split into five main sections, with contents as follows;

How Do We Get Our File?

If your Scout Fellowship has not yet received it's copy of the new File then you can obtain a copy;

What Will A Hard Copy Cost?

Thanks to the sponsorship deal, initial copies of the File will be made available free of charge to every Scout Fellowship on the National Scout Fellowship Database. Note however that postage and packing will still be charged if your copy is posted from HQ rather than being distributed via your AAC/ACC/ADC(SF).

Postage costs are as follows

Quantity Method Cost
1 file 1st class post in a 'Jiffy' Bag £1.90
2 files 1st class post in a 'Jiffy' Bag £4.50
approx' 18 Parcel Post (in a single box) £5.75

Once the initial copies have been distributed, future copies will be available from the Information Centre by 'print on demand', at a cost to be determined. [Note that as of October 2001, less that a hundred copies are in stock]

In addition, copies of the individual Fact Sheets will also be available to order from the Information Centre.

Won't It Get Out Of Date?

Because the new 'Scout Fellowship File' has been designed as a series of loose leaf Fact Sheets it can be easily and cheaply updated if and when individual sections of the File are changed (by the outcome of the Programme Review for example).

News of revised Fact Sheets (sections) will be posted to the Scout Fellowship National E-mail list and on ScoutBase UK. Revised sections will also be freely downloadable from ScoutBase UK.
