Eastbury Events

Here are some of the Eastbury Players events from 2002...

Eastbury Players Formal Christmas Dinner (and dance!) - Saturday 14th December

It was quite a shock - guys in DJ's, girls in lovely frocks...and we weren't on stage! The food was lovely and the dancing (for those who wanted to!) was enjoyed. The evening was helped along by a very cheap bar at Maylands! Everyone had a pressie from their Secret Santa and we were finally all chucked out at about 12.30! Surprisingly there were no pumpkins anywhere....For photos from the night click here. Well done and thanks a lot to Chris P for organising the whole night - hopefully another next year!!

The 3rd official Eastbury Players Quiz Night - Saturday 30th November

Another succesful Quiz Night! Once again the hall was nicely packed out. A new venue for us this time in St Margaret's Centre in Barking. Some of us had trouble finding it and the pouring rain wasn't a great help, but once there everyone seemed to enjoy themselves! Thanks once again to Tony, Maureen and Lesley for writing, reading and marking the questions, respectively! Thanks to everyone else who helped in any way! And to top it all off the group made another tidy sum as well!

The In-between Shows Party! - Saturday 9th November

A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by everyone who came. There were about 16 of us I think and everyone had a good time! Huge thanks must be given to Sue for the loan of her house in the midst of decorating etc! Thanks also to Sami, Sue, Chris K and Chris P for the delicious food! Also to Lorraine and Chris P for pre-event washing up! Hope everyone enjoyed the punch.....

BBQ at Phil and Chris' house - Sunday 1st September 2002

This was a much enjoyed event which also made a fair amount of money for the group. The weather was lovely and there were a lot of people there to enjoy it. The Twister mat was well used and the food and drink were much appreciated! This a also a celebration of Eastbury Players' 1st birthday - though we didn't realise until afterwards!! Thanks very much to Phil and Chris for the use of their house and for organising the event.

Picnic in the Park - Sunday 4th August 2002

A slightly disappointing turnout again, but with the weather against us, I guess it may have been expected. Those who did go enjoyed about 2 hours of strangely hot weather (I even tried tanning my legs!). Our downfall was in trying to start a good old-fashioned English game of cricket. As any cricket fan knows, starting this good old-fashioned game brings the good old-fashioned English weather...and boy did it pour down! So, to the pub we went....

Sing-along-a-Joseph - Sunday 14th July 2002

An unfortunately small amount of people attended this event. The 5 of us who went had an extremely good time (and thanks a lot guys for lumbering yours truly with 4 girls!) We noticed that they also do a Sing-along-a-Abba at the cinema, a possible trip? Thanks a lot to Chris for organising the trip.

Eastbury Players Inaugural Dinner Dance - Saturday 22nd June 2002

The Eastbury Players first Dinner Dance was held at Eastbury Manor House on Saturday 22nd June. For more information about the dinner click here

Eastbury Players AGM - Monday 17th June 2002

The Eastbury Players AGM went without a hitch. The new committee were elected (and can be seen on the members page) and there were only positive comments about the progress of the group.

The Eastbury Players Quiz Night - Saturday 20th April 2002

The Quiz Night was a HUGE success for the society, selling 100 tickets and making a good sum of money! As a company, we would like to thank everyone who came and supported us. Special thanks must be given to Tony Thomas for providing the questions and Maureen Thomas for selling the tickets (and organising our food!!) and being the quizmaster.
