Charity shops such as British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research and Oxfam and Sobel House (Headington) and British Red Cross (High Street, Oxford) are grateful for clothes, shoes and other items in a saleable condition.

However, if you can also dispose of them by using the special City Council large red plastic bags for textiles and shoes.  At present, the items have to be in sufficiently good condition for them to be used as they are - the collection is not intended to be for items that will be broken down and recycled into new items.

The red bag should be put out with your green box.

Textiles and shoes should NOT be put directly into the green box,  even if you have only one of these items to put out, so it's more environmentally friendly to fill up a red bag before you put it out.

Red bags are available free of charge.

Usually, when the recycling team pick up items in a red bag, they leave another red bag behind.

Phone City Works on (01865) 252 900 to request red bags, collect them yourself from the City Works depot in Marsh Lane, Cowley, or if you just want the odd one, contact Marilyn.
