Are there gadgets for squashing plastic bottles and tins?

Milton Keynes Recycling Plant has advised that these are not such a good idea after all. It appears that cans and bottles are more easily sorted if they are not completely squashed.

However, it's perfectly OK to flatten them a bit to make more room in your blue box.

After using a bottle squasher, you have to put the lid back on to stop the bottle expanding again, thereby ending up with a) a bottle with a top b) a really flattened bottle - neither of which the Milton Keynes plant really wants anyway!
