Seven Fields received the statutory designation of Local Nature Reserve after vigorous campaigning by the Seven Fields Group with the support of all the surrounding community groups and parish councils
What is a Local Nature Reserve?

An LNR is an area designated by Local Authorities under the
1949 National Parks and Access to the Countryside act, which is of conservation interest.
LNR's are of local, but not national importance.
LNR's are always owned by local authorities, and they may often pass the management of the LNR onto County Wildlife Trusts.
An LNR unlike SSSI's has to be managed appropriately to retain its special status.  However the standard of management required is not necessarily very high.
