Aglaostigma fulvipes  - Male. Small species. Black, maroon some yellowish markings.  Very common in Britain.
 
Arge cyanocrocea  - Female. Small species. Black thorax, yellow abdomen. Wings clear with prominent black shady mark in the middle of the forewing.  Common in Southern England
 
Cephus cultatus - Male and Female. Female.  Slender black, some yellow markings. Stem boring sawfly.
 
Dolerus picipes - Female. black. Difficult to identify because of several similar species. Common throughout Britain.
 
Hartigia xanthostoma -  A stem boring species which are all long and slim, this one is larger, about 18mm long. Black with some yellow on the body and orange on the legs. Is considered rare. and designated provisional Red Data Book 3 (pRDB3)***
 
Rhogogaster scalaris - Large sturdy insect, bright green with a few black markings. Fades to straw colour when preserved. Local.
 
Tenthredo brevicornis - Female.  Medium sized. Mainly black. On of a family preying on other insects and eating pollen. Widespread and frequent in England.
 
***The Hartigia is  definitely the best species and John suggests that we make sure that the Meadowsweet at the North Western end of Furrow Field is retained as part of the Management Plan.  JG.
