The new Cavendish Drive to Colworth Road 20 mph zone is now completed. This means that the speed limit for traffic in a large section of Leytonstone is 20 mph. The scheme was introduced after significant consultation with local residents.
As part of the scheme some junctions were redesigned and rebuilt, a one-way system introduced in South West Road, and some new roundabouts were installed.
Various mechanisms were introduced to help slow traffic down including speed cushions, road markings and 20 mph signs which light up.
A new zebra crossing was also put in Fairlop Road following specific requests from residents.
