My Homework Week 4, part 1

Using a Validator

A fundamental part of HTML coding is learning to write it correctly. That is, writing HTML code in compliance with W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) recommendations and other existing HTML standards. This is extremely important if you want your web pages to be displayed correctly for the majority of Internet users.

My Homework Week 4, part 2

Tables

The table below has a width of 75%, cellspacing of 2, cellpadding of 5, and a border of 2.
It contains 2 rows with 2 cells in each row.
It is aligned center.

This cell has no attributes. The text is aligned to the left and valigned center. These are the default attributes if you don't define them. This cell is aligned to the center and I prefer this alignment as it looks balanced. I have added background color soft pink.
This allows the attention of the reader to be drawn to the details.
I set the align attribute to align right and added a background color pale green and the valign attribute to top. The background color also makes the text easier to read. In this cell the valign attribute is set to bottom and the align not set which goes to default left.

Here I am using an invisable table to contain the text and a thumbnail picture of a tulip, you can click on the small picture and see the full sized image.
This watercolor of a tulip was painted by my daughter Vicky, on a craft weekend at Knuston Hall, a stately home in Northamptonshire. I did sewing and made a dressing gown for my son, Andrew.
These courses are run by Residential Colleges of Adult Education, and are held in beautiful old houses, all over the UK. There are people come year after year, to meet up with old friends and share mutual interests. Courses can be for a week, a weekend or just one day.
