Happy Club

Happy Club for the children runs every Sunday morning, during term time, from 9.30am-10.30am in the village hall.

Happy Club is a Sunday School where we meet at the village hall and has just celebrated it's 10th year. We accept children from the age of 3yrs to 7yrs with an older group from 8yrs upwards. The children and parents of the older group view this class as a natural progression towards communion preparation.

All the children do many things from making cards to cooking, plus they cover all the major festivals of the church timetable and teachings, where they then join the congregation in the church for the last five minutes, to share the output of their session and to join in the last hymn, which the children choose themselves. We have lots of fun and laughter and would welcome any child who wishes to join us. Just come along and see us on any Sunday at 9.30am.

About St. Stephen on the Downs

There has been a centre of worship in the village since Whit Sunday 1907. It proved so popular that worship moved from a rented room to a tin hut, which was placed on the site where the present Village Hall is today.

In 1919 a bell for the mission room was sought, 1923 it was decided that the mission church should be known as St Stephen's Epsom Downs. The present church building of today called St. Stephen on the Downs, daughter church of St. Martin of Tours, Epsom, was completed and consecrated on 17th December 1961 by the Right Reverand George Reindorp, Bishop of Guildford.
