Brown is used for land form and paved areas. Many symbols use brown.

There are two versions of full brown in the default OCAD colour table:

Brown colour number 4 used by most brown symbols

Street infill colour number 15 used by the dual colour road symbols (501 502 503)

There are three tones are defined in the default OCAD colour table:

Brown 50% colour number 5 used by symbol 529 paved area

Brown 20% colour number 21 not used in the default symbol set

The Pantone Matching System

The Pantone Matching System is one of the colour models used by commercial printers.

IOF Specifications define the following colours, their approximate CMYK (process colour) translations are given:-

Colour Pantone Cyan Magenta Yellow K (black)
Black Black 0 0 0 100
Brown 471 0 56 100 19
Yellow 136 0 28 79 0
Blue 299 87 19 0 0
Green 361 76 0 91 0
Grey 428 0 0 0 23
grey is usually applied as a tone of the black separation.
