This alternate symbol is oriented to north.

ISOM 1990 Definition

As ISOM 2000 but the alternative symbol had a black line width of 0.125mm, with line spacing of 0.25mm. (Line screen 33%, 25 lines/cm)
ISOM number changed from 528 to 527.

OCAD Methods

Defined as area symbol 527.0; this can be drawn with any drawing tool.

Take advantage of editing straight lines into bézier lines where appropriate. Also edge match with care using the control key when drawing to match edges.

This is a rotatable symbol, the pattern of the fill can be rotated with the direction tool and will rotate with the map if the “include symbols” box is checked when the map is turned. This is not the same as using the rotation tool which turns the whole object, but not the fill pattern.

Drawing Considerations

See minimum dimensions but specifically -

- Smallest area of colour of solid colour: 0.5mm² (black not specified)

- OCAD Symbol 527.1 has an area of 0.0006 km² according to OCAD which represents 0.27mm² at 1:15000

Permissible Combination of Screens

The ISOM lays down the permissible combination of screens.

There is no mention of this symbol in the combination section of the specifications. Significant features must be shown for the yellow/green symbol, or the black line screen with no underlying detail should be used.
