Specifications

405 Forest: easy running

Typically open runnable forest for the particular type of terrain. If no part of the forest is runnable then no white should appear on the map.

Colour: white.

ISOM 1990 Definition

Open forest where there is no hindrance to the runner.

OCAD Methods

No symbol is provided in the default.ocd symbol set. Obviously the feature does not need to be drawn.

Drawing Considerations

There is a runnability topic.

Some cartographers use a white knockout to show open forest within another vegetation screen. This is poor practice; Cut-outs should be used in preference.

See minimum dimensions but specifically - Smallest area enclosed by a dotted line: 1.5 mm (diameter) with 5 dots.

Permissible Combination of Screens

The ISOM lays down the permissible combination of screens.

There is no mention of this symbol in the combination section of the specifications. This symbol may be combined with any other suitable screen.
