311 lndistinct marsh
An indistinct or seasonal marsh or area of gradual transition from marsh to firm ground, which is crossable. The edge is generally indistinct and the vegetation similar to that of the surrounding ground. Symbol 311 may be combined with symbol 403 for clearly open but indistinct marshes. The symbol should be combined with vegetation symbols to show runnability and openness.
Colour: blue (with yellow/green).
Line width 0.1mm, line length 0.9mm, gap 0.25mm
Line spacing 0.3mm (0.4mm line to line)
This symbol is oriented to north.
Broken ground is added to the list of permissable combinations.
An indistinct or seasonal marsh or area of gradual transition from marsh to firm ground, which is crossable. The edge is generally indistinct and the vegetation similar to that of the surrounding ground. Symbol 311 may be combined with symbol 403 for clearly open but indistinct marshes. There may be occasions where it is appropriate to use symbol 311 with symbol 401. For densely wooded marshes symbol 311 may be combined with the symbols 406-410.
Colour: blue (with yellow/green).
Line width 0.175mm, line length 0.9mm, gap 0.25mm

Defined as area symbol 311.0, and can be drawn with any drawing tool.
Care is needed at joins, overlap only where it is safe (usually if it is the same colour and always if it is the same symbol). If you need to share a common boundary with another symbol, draw along the edge with the control key to follow it exactly.
Underlying area colours will show through the symbol in the spaces between the blue lines, no user intervention needed!
The default definition has a gap between dashes of 0.3mm, compared with the ISOM specified 0.25mm. Variation is allowed in the specification, see the Variations in Symbols topic for details.
The ISOM lays down the permissible combination of screens.
Indistinct marsh is allowed with broken ground, stony ground, open land, open land with scattered trees , rough open land, rough open land with scattered trees , forest: slow running, undergrowth: slow running, forest: difficult to run , undergrowth: difficult to run, and vegetation: very difficult to run,
but not with uncrossable marsh, or marsh.
Marsh: A permanently wet area with marsh vegetation.
If this symbol is used in a yellow area, especially a full yellow area (open land), then it will tend to green out, as both the blue and the yellow will print.
If you use the colour table hint to knockout the yellow, as described in the full blue topics, then there could be a problem with white edges to the symbol with any print misregistration.
