303 Waterhole
A water-filled pit or an area of water which is too small to be shown to scale. Location is the centre of gravity of the symbol, which is orientated to north.
Colour: blue.
Line width 0.18mm
This symbol is oriented to north.
As ISOM 2000 but line width and symbol width altered
Defined as point symbol 303.0, can be drawn with any drawing tool.
This is a rotatable symbol, it can be rotated with the direction tool and will rotate with the map if the include symbols box is checked when the map is turned.
Care when drawing is needed, a click will place the symbol; a click with drag will rotate the symbol in the direction of the drag. To correct this, redraw carefully. Don Scarrott has written a utility that straightens all rotated symbols.
Not the same as a wet pit, as this symbol is not restricted to round waterholes. It is often clearer to use this symbol rather than a small pond.
A small water filled hollow or artificial pit.
If this symbol is used in a yellow area, especially a full yellow area (open land), then it will tend to green out, as both the blue and the yellow will print.
If you use the colour table hint to knockout the yellow, as described in the full blue topics, then there could be a problem with white edges to the symbol with any print misregistration.
