Specifications

113 Elongated knoll

A small obvious elongated knoll which cannot be drawn to scale with a contour (length less than 12 m and width less than 4 m). The height of the knoll should be a minimum of 1m from the surrounding ground. Knolls larger than this must be shown by contours. The symbol may not be drawn in a free form or such that two elongated knoll symbols overlap. The symbol may not touch a contour line.

Colour: brown.

Dimensions 0.4mm x 0.8mm

ISOM 1990 Definition

This is an entirely new symbol.

No symbol is provided in the default.ocd symbol set. One must be defined as a user defined symbol.

A user defined symbol is a rotatable symbol, it can be rotated with the direction tool and will rotate with the map if the “include symbols” box is checked when the map is turned.

OCAD Methods

Should be defined as point symbol 113.0. It will need to be drawn, imported, or a revised symbol set used. A point symbol can be drawn with any tool. Drag as you draw to get the correct orientation of the symbol.

Drawing Considerations

Beware of using too many elongated knolls which draw the eye from the shape of the land. The small knoll (112) is also used for a rocky knoll, but the definition for the new elongated knoll does not suggest it's use for rocky knolls, but I think that we should!
