Dave has built and races his XJ6 in the Jaguar owners club "Classicats Saloon Car Championship". This is his 3rd season. In the first two years he raced, he managed several 3rd in class finishes, whilst still new to preparing and racing his car.
This year his increasing experience has showed, with his first ever class win at Croft, in what was probably the most exciting race of the season for spectators. (Probably not for the drivers as Dave was shunted off the track twice, and the crowd held their breath as Dave escaped a major crash when a car, fighting for the race lead, missed a corner and cut back onto the track, narrowly missing him).
He was then disappointed not to follow this up with wins in the two race meetings in France.
Back in England he had tyre problems during practice, at Donington, resulting in a poor grid position. However an excellent first lap saw him take the lead which he held onto in a close duel with Howard Kirkham.
With the car not running well at Snetteron, he could only manage 3rd in class. The disappointment on the track was more than compensated by the "Party in the Paddock" on Saturday night.
Overall Daves consistent results gave him a well deserved 2nd in Championship finish, and he was awarded the "Driver of the Year" Trophy.
With the 2004 season around the corner Dave will be looking to improve again, and that means a 1st place finish.
