Hypnotherapy

The use of hypnosis is a drug-free process of quietening down that part of your mind that constantly ‘talks' to you. Hypnosis can be induced in many different ways but the most common method is by the therapist guiding the client's imagination through gentle imagery of calmness and peace, which, combined with the use of visualisation, produces a profound state of relaxation and concentration.

Once the hypnotic trance has been achieved, the therapist and the client are able to enjoy direct access to the subconscious mind. The client is always very much aware of what is being said and, on many occasions, has more awareness of many aspects of their own mind that would otherwise be blocked out with the daily ‘chatter'.

How easily can I be hypnotised?

You may not realise it but you have already experienced a hypnotic trance!

•  when you have been driving and realise that you cannot remember the last few miles of your journey

•  when you are watching television and you find yourself ‘staring into space'

•  when you have become so absorbed in a book or hobby that you lose all track of time, etc.

These, and you can probably think of many more, are all examples of an altered state of awareness.
