Village information
Wormhill is a very small farming
community between Tideswell and Buxton in the Peak District.
One of its claims to fame is that the
civil engineer James Brindley (of canal and bridge fame) was born in Tunstead,
in Wormhill parish in 1716. Today Wormhill dresses the ornate Brindley
Well in late August, and does a second smaller dressing in the churchyard. The
Brindley well usually features ornate representations of ecclesiastical or
secular buildings.
