Traditionally thought of the "home" of well dressing, Tissington is a beautiful estate village near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. 

It always dresses its 6 wells on Ascension Day, and was for many years the first village on the well dressing calendar, although depending upon where Easter falls there can be other villages such as Newborough in Staffordshire who claim this crown.
