Okay, you've read all about the fabulous Lenco Transcription Turntables and you've seen how much fun the other Lenco Users are having - now you want a slice of it!

Such is the popularity of the Lenco revival, prices have been driven up over the last couple of years and what could previously have been bought for pretty pennies is now gonna cost you pretty pounds.

The first people to take heed of Jean Nantais' ideas and suggestions, were the lucky ones, since they will have been in a position to buy their decks at a bargain price. But now, the owners of decent stock are demanding more money for their decks at such venues as Ebay. They know that there's always someone eager to outbid someone else.

SO WHAT DO I DO ?

Don't worry, there's one out there for you! You just have to keep your eyes peeled and don't limit yourself to Ebay. Start visiting fleamarkets at the weekend and pop around to the local charity shops during your lunch-breaks. You might just stumble upon one and end up with the bargain of the century.

EBAY STEALTH MODE...

If you are going to bid for one on Ebay (or any other online-auction, use some stealth!! Keep a constant eye out for what you want. Once you see one, make a note of the auction-expiry date and set a reminder call on your mobile phone.

When the day comes, stay calm. Don't keep visiting the page!! Every time you visit, the visitor-counter increases, letting your competitors know that you are downwind, hidden in the tall grass.

Wait until the last 2 minutes of the auction and creep closer to the quarry. At one minute to go, hit the BID button, enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to pay, but DON'T hit that Submit button!!

With 30 seconds to go, click on Submit and your bid is in! Your competitor's automatic bidding mode kicks in and beats yours. YOUR automatic bidding kicks in and beats theirs! With your fingers and legs crossed, your bid will hit the mark just before anyone else can reply. The quarry is yours.

EBAY SABRE RATTLING...

The problem with the "Stealth Mode" is that you might get unlucky and find that your opponents hit the highest bidder mark just as the sale closes <sigh>.

If you are determined to have the prize and want people to know it, go in strong about 10 minutes before close of the auction. Don't make a single bid before then, and again, don't keep refreshing that counter with repeated visits.

At 10 minutes to, make your strongest bid and see where it goes. If you are outbid by a determined buyer at that stage, you'll know where you stand with a good few minutes to go.

Sit back, think about what you're doing. Do you REALLY want that particular deck or do you want to wait for another one to come along? Will another one come along in that condition? Are you gonna let this guy beat ya?

No! He won the battle, but he ain't won the war! Drop into stealth mode - its your last chance. Rethink your finances and hit the Bid button with your kids college funds. Don't submit yet! Hold, hold, steady....... SUBMIT!!

SERIOUSLY THOUGH....

Don't be drawn too deeply into a fiery auction. There's only one winner and its not usually the buyer! I ended up paying twice the value of an item once, simply because I was squaring up to another bidder. For all I know, it could have been the seller's mate! Take care out there.

Hey, and don't forget to trawl through the Audio Forums too (including Lenco Heaven Forum). One of the other Lenco collectors might be willing to help you out.

Good luck guyz!
