Rob was born in Lennoxtown, Stirlingshire, by the Campsie Fells. He grew up in Glasgow and lived there for over 40 years before relocating to Surrey.
Rob was a member of the Surrey Pipe Band for five years, in which time he played on numerous band engagements, including the Surrey County Show, Hendon Police College passing out parade and the Star & Garter Military Tattoo at Royal Armouries, Fort Nelson.
Rob plays 'McCallum' and 'Inveran' Great Highland Bagpipes but can also offer Scottish smallpipes for more confined venues.
His dress code on most occasions is full ceremonial ’No1’ dress (with Royal Stewart tartan) but other options are Highland day wear (e.g. for funerals) and Highland evening wear (Prince Charlie jacket, dress shirt, bow tie - and kilt of course!). Rob offers a choice of tartans: Royal Stewart, Buchanan, Isle of Skye and Royal Regiment of Scotland.
