Calling all writers: Help Wanted! (22/05/02 )
Several projects on GC are underway that could use the assistance of Corps writers and/or readers. Most are series of small tasks for which one need only devote a minimal amount of time and effort to make a big difference.
The Council of Nine. Short character blurbs are being written for these notable political figures. A little bit of history, personality, and political agenda, plus a name, are all that each character needs. Currently, two remain to be claimed: one each of Vendorian and Accipteron. See what's been done thus far here.
The Five-Minute Galaxy Corps. The "Plot Summaries" thread has not yet seen any use, but it could potentially be a valuable resource. Capsule synopses of the major plotlines, telling in a few sentences the prominent characters and events of threads and archives, would make jump-starting and/or refreshing writers easy. Any amount of help here is appreciated.
GC Discussion List? An email list might be helpful for keeping up inter-author communication, maintaining enthusiasm, and facilitating quick notification of site changes and new posts. Would readers/writers be interested in such a thing? Please discuss at Suggestion box: GC Listserv.
FAQ. Notice that table cell in the upper-left corner that says "FAQ"? We need a new, cool, revised-and-updated form of the old "Tips and Guidelines" document that can actually answer people's questions and help bring new blood to GC. Discuss at Suggestion box: FAQ.
More archives and links. There are plenty of storylines that are, in whole or in part, ready to be archived, but haven't yet been indexed--if you're capable of arranging a story you're familiar with into chronological order, please do so! Your efforts will gain the prestige and snazziness of an organized archive. We also need more links to interactive fiction-related sites. If you know of a good site that wouldn't mind being included on our links page, do suggest it!
General feedback. We want to know what can be done better on GC's site, and what is already working well. How can we be a more friendly, easy-to-navigate, fun writing environment? What's deficient or missing? How can we make things easier for new writers to join and continuing writers to keep up? Let us know at the new Feedback Forum and Suggestion box: Aid for new writers.
