Astralscape (The Brightwing and Aurora incident) (02/04/02 )
The vortex sucked him in, a swirling collection of lights and sounds then darkness...
“Ensign...” the voice was femine and familiar. “Hey bird, come on wake up!”
“Karen...” He said weakly his vision was blurry and he felt like his body weighted a ton. “Where...?” Darkness swirled around his vision.
Karen Summers smiled, “hey Winger welcome back to the station... How was the coma?”
As quickly as he had opened them his eyes closed and he drifted off again.
Aurora grimaced, “damn, lost him... something’s wrong.”
“What happened?” Karen pleaded.
“Out, please... this is going to take more work” Aurora looked stern.
Karen headed out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Wykin raised an eyebrow, “Any problems?”
“Aye, Doc... we almost had him.” She sighed.

(Splash)
Brightwing was in some kind of ocean. The water was cold, black, and sticky. The sky was of the purest night, an impenetrable darkness. There was a sense of impending doom, of a great evil menace lurking about.
“What the... Heeeellllpppp!” He gasped, bobbing about frantically. “Anyone? Hello? What’s going on?”
No one answered his frantic calls for help.
What the fiery heck is going on here... He thought, I can’t be floating in this goop, I was just fighting some strange transformable meks. What is this place... Did I die?
The young Accipteron shivers, sending ripples through the water.
“I guess I better start swimming, got to find land or something.”
Then something beneath the water grabbed him by the ankles and yanked him under. It was some type of multi-tentacled octopus-like creature with a huge jaw of teeth like a Terran great white shark.
What the hell... what kind of animal is that? He frantically raced through his thoughts, underwater survival training, xenofauna encounter techniques. Realizing his vulnerability he tucked his wings in tight and grabbed for his vibroknife.
Slashing at the tentacle thing with the blade and wrestling his ankle free, he used his wings like fins to give himself thrust underwater. The water stung his eyes, but he kept them open... he needed to see where he was going and to watch for that thing.
He spied it approaching from behind, it maneuvered like an octopus using its body and jets of water to provide thrust. It approached headfirst, its yellow black glowing eyes burned with an intelligence and hatred unknown in just an animal. This creature was more than just a random beast, it wanted him and it would have him.
Using his wings to their best advantage, he cut his forward momentum and dived down suddenly. The creature sailed past, its mouth snapped in frustration. With amazing agility it rotated 180 degrees and shot a tentacle downwards towards its descending prey. A tentacle wrapped around his ankle suddenly halted Winger’s dive, he swung around ready to slash with the knife. The creature was faster and a second tentacle grabbed his wrist, preventing his knife from finding the mark. As the beast drew him quickly upwards, Winger slashed at the tentacle holding his arms with finger talons. They cut deep into the beast’s flesh, forcing it to release his hand. Without a pause he slashed at the one around his ankle, freeing it.
(whoosh)
Winger increased his forward momentum and headed right for the beast, his strength was ebbing... maneuvering in this water was difficult. He rolled between the massive tentacle stalks and landed on the slimy body. He leaped upward towards the surface using wings for thrust.
He broke the surface and spread wings wide.
Up here the beast can’t get to me... oh no
His feathers were soaked, weighted down with the vile water. He tumbled from the air and smacked into the surface of the water, stunning him. His vibroknife tumbled from his hand and the monster grabbed him again
Brightwing was exhausted but determined to survive this nightmare. The beast lashed out with two of the tentacles and wrapped them about his throat. They squeezed, choking him... a burst of air bubbles escaped his mouth. All seemed lost as nothing he tried worked.
Suddenly a bright light entered the water. It was a gentle, good presence that seemed to reassure Brightwing. The monster screamed in frustration and lashed out at the light. Two tentacles grabbed the light and thrust it into the monster's mouth. It swallowed and began to laugh.
Brightwing wondered, Now how can anything laugh underwater? Something isn’t quite right here, am I dreaming... I can’t really be here, I was in a fight with meks...
The monster suddenly let go of him and clutched at it's own body. It looked horribly sick. The eyes opened wide in a shocked expression... it then exploded, leaving only the light. The light reduced its brightness and Brightwing found himself looking at a beautiful female Vendorian. She smiled and held out her arms.
Brightwing thought a second then grinned. Hey! This was dream. my dream. Why not turn this nightmare into a dream of pleasure.
He reached for her. Her eyes widened as he took her hands and suddenly yanked her against his chest, clutching her tightly in a hug.
In the real world, Brightwing had sat up, reached for her and yanked her onto his lap so that she was cradled sideways across his lap.
"Brightwing," she gasped, struggling to push him away. "Don't ..." The rest of her words were smothered as he opened his beak, turned his head, and covered her mouth with his beak.
Aurora gasped, opening her mouth to protest. That was a big mistake. His tongue darted into her mouth to ensnare hers. His tongue slithered around hers, caressing.
"Mmmffffff!" Aurora gasped. He was holding her tongue captive!
Aurora sensed Brightwing's pleasure and oddly felt her own pleasure. But she resented that she hadn't had a choice in it and that he was still dreaming.
My god! My first kiss! Aurora thought. But not exactly what a kiss is between Vendorians or humans because of the beak...
She would have liked to bite him to end this forcible kiss but he was in her care. At least linked like this she could bring him out of the astral plane and back to the real world.
In a flash they were both back in the real world but Brightwing continued to hold her captive. His tongue working his magic on her.
Brightwing opens his eyes and suddenly realizes this is for real. He is holding a beautiful female alien in his arms and has her tongue locked in a passionate embrace. It's been sometime since he even touched a female. He decides to continue with his action until she does something more forceful to indicate she wants it stopped.
Interspecies relations was never like this. He thought.
Aurora blushed as one of his hands moved down to caress her body while his other continued to hold her tightly against him. She also felt he was becoming fully aroused and if she didn't do something he could also become her first lover!
He sure is strong, Aurora thought. I'm going to have to hurt him a little. But one last try. Aurora telepathically demanded, Let go Brightwing!
At that moment Rear Admiral Ko'dayn entered the room he had been told Brightwing was in. He was told that a Vendorian psychic was trying to revive Brightwing and he was asked him to be quiet and not disturb her.
He was shocked to see Brightwing sitting up in bed with a beautiful Vendorian female clutched across his lap, locked in a passionate kiss. A kiss that he could see she wanted to end as she struggled to break free.
“Ensign Sunclaw! What is the meaning of this?” Torvaine barked, trying to hide the smirk on his muzzle.
Brightwing darted out of bed to attention, using every ounce of will to keep from collapsing as his vision blurred and the room swam. Aurora ended up sprawled on the ground in an indignant heap.
"Ooffff!" Aurora gasped. What was it with these men that grabbed her while on the astral plane then unceremoniously dumped her on the floor? First Captain Orion now Ensign Brightwing Sunclaw
“Sir! Nothing sir! I believe I was dreaming sir, coma or such!” Winger quickly replied in crisp, military fashion.
Torvaine bent down and helped Aurora to her feet, “I trust you are ok?”
"Yes, sir. And you weren't dreaming there at the end ensign." Aurora said with a little bit of anger, glaring at Brightwing.
Winger scratched the back of his head, “I...”
Ryana entered the room and fixed her eyes on Aurora, she walked right over to the Vendorian and grasped her hand.
Aurora could sense something was not right with this one.
Know what I know Visions of the crash, the pain and the warped reality her son was trapped in flooded the Vendorian’s mind.
Aurora gasped. She had never had contact with another telepath except her teacher and there was something unreal about this one. Images and memories flooded her mind but were over in an instant.
Ryana regained her true appearance, a Fenrir vulpine. She began to fade from sight.
“I have done what I needed to, she will help you bring our son back.” She turned to Torvaine and brushed the side of his face, “Save our son and come for me Tor.”
She faded away.
“I will...” Torvaine whispered holding his head low. “We have a mission to perform.”
Aurora gulped. She knew we meant her and probably Brightwing as well.
"Sir?" She was working on an Alliance military installation but she was more of a civilian consultant rather than holding an official military rank, as she had never gone through official military training. She was just here to provide engineering and psychic expertise. Granted, her engineering skills had only been put to use the first couple of days after her arrival, she had then been temporarily assigned to medical to help revive coma patients.
Torvaine looked at the Vendorian and noticed her apparent lack of military discipline, she was obviously a civilian and would need some extra consideration.
“I need your help, as a psychic... what has happened to Ensign Sunclaw is indicative of what the other team members are going through.” He looked at her sternly, “I’m asking you to help, not ordering you. Ryana selected you for this, you can refuse to go, people may die because of it... but it is your choice. If you come with us, I’ll assign someone to guard you. We’ll outfit you appropriately and do our best to make sure you are safe. Will you come with us?”
Aurora was worried but she had agreed to work for the Alliance to help out in this war. "I... yes, sir. I'll just grab my spacesuit and emergency kit at the main airlock as we leave."
