Warp Zone (18/03/00 )
Bridge of the Pheonix five seconds after the "event"
Klaxons blaired and lights flashed, Alraen struggled to regain command. Every object seemed to be millions of miles away and no matter how hard he tried he could not speak.
This is jus' grait, he thought, its a fair dinkum to see, I get a' chaunce at command and this 'hole scene goes bloody wrong. The ole major al think my command skills ain't worth a ruddy razoo
The Universe seemed to move at a crawl and everyone's perceptions seemed warped beyond any logical belief. The bridge seemed to be a house of mirrors and the command lift doors were miles beyond Tycko's grasp, or so he thought. The bridge was filled with an extraordinarilly white light, but it wasn't painfully bright and everyone appeared to be frozen. He tryed to speak, but no words left his mouth. Strangely he felt nothing, no vertigo, inertia.... nothing.
I must be dead he thought. He reached out with his mind and touched Kailli's can you here me?
Yes, I'm not sure what's going on, are we.... Kailli thought.
Tycko sentI....... I don't think so, I...
With a perfectly timed, metalic "pop", the light was replaced with darkness and the Pheonix came to a dead stop. Most of the crew were tossed about, causing mostly bruises and wounded pride. Not even the emergency lights would respond to the situation. A few crewmembers attempted to perform their emergency duties, but it was in vain no system would respond. Then it hit, like a tidal wave, all the sensory stimulation, warp effects and physical stress hit each member of the crew at once. The stimulus was too much even for the hardiest of their number and each slipped into a deeper darkness then the one that lingered in their halls.
The thrill of the hunt, stalking the prey.... pouncing.... bracing for the killing blow.. a sharp throbbing pain deep in her head brought Meilyn out of her cat dreams and back into harsh and painful reality. "Unnnn, what mek hit me an were is it i've got a rocket launcher and I'm not afraid to use it" she growled.
The ship's deck lights were bright and aggravated her headache more...."hey wait a minute the powers back on!" She looked around and noticed the others were still out. "I've gotta find out where we are..." She leaped up and made for the science console, after two steps she nearly slipped back into the happy hunting grounds. The young Kalain swooned, but steadied herself on the Captain's Chair. She was very weak and ravenously hungry. This worried her, they would have had to have been out for a while to reach this state or have been exposed to unshielded warp radiation for a long distance and time.
"Computer.... astrometrics scan, correlate distance from objective, use standard astronomical occurances for reference."
WORKING, NO CORRELATION FOUND, UNABLE TO PLOT DISTANCE
"that's impossible, computer analyze local stellar phenomenon and compare to available starcharts, also search hyperwave frequencies for any transmissions"
UNABLE TO COMPLY NO IDENTIFIABLE LOCAL STELLAR FEATURES. WORKING..... CEPHIAD 316NT LOCATED, ANALYZING, GALAXY M240 NOT IN CORRECT CORRELATION WITH CEPHIAD VARIABLE. VARIABLE PULSE NOT DETECTABLE. ESTIMATION?
"Sure I'm curious...."
LOCAL GROUP ALPHA NINE, APPROXIMATELY 52 PARSECTS FROM HOME GROUP....
"That's not possible..."
SMALL LOCAL MASS DETECTED
"On forward screen."
Instantly the forward view screen came to life.
"By the Huntress, what is that....."
