Description: The deathknight is a small, highly maneuvreable mek unit. It is mostly humanoid in appearance, but it's surfaces are angled to minimize stress and drag in atmospheric operations. It's appendages were designed to be short and thick in order to support additional acceleration stress. Its propulsion system is uniquely designed to give the pilot maximum acceleration in any direction. In addition to being very fast on foot, its propulsion jets are mounted on fully moveable swiveling hardpoints, which can be turned to face in any direction. The power plant also features special control devices which allow up to 45% of the mek's total thrust output to be routed to a single jet. Although this tends to put stress on the mek's frame if used for long periods of time, it is extremely useful for short periods of high-speed manuevring. The control interface, however, is more similar to that of a space fighter than that of a mek, making it very difficulte for inexperienced mek pilots to operate.
The deathknight is somewhat lightly armed and extremely lightly armored for its weight. It sports twin, rapid-firing photon blasters mounted on the outside of its forearms. In addition, missile pods attached to its shoulders fire a spread of small, individually guided missiles at up to 10 targets. Although 6 or 7 of these missiles do not do enough damage to severly damage most opponents, all of them can be fired at a single target to inflict maximum damage, or fired in a spread pattern to hinder advancing opponents. To coordinate these weapons systems, an advanced battle computer is installed in the place of a standard targeting and tracking system. This computer can track up to 30 friendlies and enemy targets at a time, and provides firing information and trajectory-based firing solutions for the pilot.
