T-Thrust Mek
Classification: Stock Fighter / Command Unit
Armament:
2 light variable-mode photon cannons
2 medium grade high-explosive missile launchers, with two reloads apiece
Speed: Moderate; straight-line speed can be rapidly accelerated
Armor: Medium
Description: A standard humanoid design, with two pod-mounted rocket launchers on the shoulders and light photon cannons attached to the upper wrists, above full manipulator hands. The engine is unusually large and the main exhaust port takes up considerable space on the rear torso. This unit is commonly equipped with the most powerful communications and unit-coordination equipment available, for use as a command unit; its great traveling speed allows it to reach needed areas quickly, and it has more basic damage potential than the Ninja.
Freeburner Mek
Classification: Close Combat / Hostile Environment Vehicle
Armament:
2 monofilament blades
2 heavy grenade launchers, 2 reloads apiece
2 heavy flamers / vacuum-support plasma cannons
Speed: Moderate to Fast
Armor: Medium
Description: A headless, sleek design, the Freeburner has a round look to it. Grenade pods rest on the Mek’s hips, and two pieces of equipment are on opposing sides of each manipulator hand’s wrist: the retractable blade and the flame-thrower. The flamers, configured pre-mission for use in atmosphere or deep space, can unleash blasts of heat intense enough to wipe armor off of enemy vehicles. To protect itself from the backwash from these unfocused jets, and for making forays into volcanic or other high-temperature environments, the Freeburner is equipped with a heat-shield generator in its upper body. This recently invented device projects a field of energy around the Mek that channels heat around the surface of the Mek, forcing heat hazards away from the Mek at a distance of about ¼ inch, keeping the surface at a regulated temperature. Researchers are currently trying to adapt this technology to also fight concentrated sources of heat damage, e.g. lasers, that thus far can still penetrate the shield with only some loss of effectiveness.
