Galaxy Corps: The central affiliation of this story. A military unit employing Meks—powerful and versatile, often human-shaped anti-robot vehicles—and skimmers, fighter craft equally capable in space and in atmosphere. Headed by a man codenamed Captain Orion, and based on Vendorian Defense Station 1, orbiting the occupied planet.
Ground Battalion: Common name given to any of a number of organized infantry/ground armor units fighting Gyran on Vendoria. (Civilian militias, and groups focusing on sabotage or other indirect anti-Gyran activities, are most often simply called “the Resistance.”)
Gladiator: Originally an operation name for an offensive against a weapons platform orbiting Geltor III, now an elite skimmer unit separate from GC. Provides the aerospace support for the Firestorm campaign to reclaim Geltor.
Firestorm: Operation name for the attack on Geltor III, where Gyran has a nearly planet-covering city of robots. A longer and more difficult, if less pressing, mission than that of Vendoria’s liberation.
Gyran: The name for the robots and flesh-and-blood operatives working under Dr. Derek Gyran. The group specifically targeted by Galaxy Corps, Gladiator, and Firestorm.
Star Police: A standing navy of capital starships that enforce trade and border laws in Alliance space. They have been called up for military aid on several occasions when individual Alliance members’ navies (e.g., during the Pax Vendoria) were insufficient to counter a threat.
ZPWA: The Zutorkian-Plutonian Warrior Alliance. Formed during the Second War of Dawn, this dangerous pair of interstellar nations is bound by treaty to hold its peace. They have honored the treaty for some time, but their border warriors constantly harass Star Police units, trying to lure them into ZPWA territory to legally attack them. This may be a sign that they are tiring of the treaty…
Enforcers: A well-known, high-tech police force on Earth. They have little to do with interstellar conflicts (save for the occasional offworld criminal they find), but this group is full of individuals ripe for recruitment into GC or another unit.
Starr: A massive criminal syndicate on Earth, the perennial target of Enforcers crusades. This is the organization that aided Gyran before his exodus. Now that Gyran has holdings in Alliance space, he stays in contact with Starr as best he can, and recruits operatives from them.
Characters may also belong to political factions, standard militaries of the races (which may or may not be directly involved in the robot war), or emerging affiliations that no one yet knows about! Once again, be creative…
