About Us
Introduction - Homeward Bound is a Horse Pony and small farm animal rescue centre based in South Derbyshire. The organisation was formed in August 2002 by Anne Sammon and a small team of helpers. Anne was asked if she knew someone that would care for a thoroughbred horse. At the time Anne was unable to help. 3 weeks later Anne found out that the owner had decided to put the horse to sleep. Knowing of the owners intentions, she decided to take the horse on herself. Nugget was the start of Homeward Bound.
This led to the rescue of other horses and ponies in a similar situation to Nugget and since the beginning Anne has rescued over 20 horses, ponies, donkey, sheep, goats, dogs, rabbits & guinea pigs.
Mission Statement - Homeward Bound aims to rescue Horses, Ponies, Donkeys and the occasional small animals from neglect, abuse and slaughter. To let them live without fear and to give them the love and care they deserve along with a peaceful happy secure home.
