Structure of the Site

The site is organised in six major sections, plus two general sections for archives and links. Here are the six major sections:

  Counselling & Psychotherapy for Individuals
Supervision for Practitioners (& Supervison training)
Training for Practitioners (CPD incl. conferences)
Group Facilitation & Facilitation Training
Organisational Development & Consultancy
My Published Writing & Presentations

Each section has a main page, with buttons to six sub-sections. The main pages all look like this:

On the left, you will notice the menu bar with links to the main sections. Underneath the six buttons, each main page has a clickable panel tab that opens out into a description of that section and its content:

Click the tab or the triangle to open the panel, and view the section description:

The section on 'Counselling & Psychotherapy' has two main pages: the first for a general introduction to what counselling and psychotherapy have to offer generally, the second an overview of my therapeutic approach and work in particular.

How to find your way: the header and the breadcrumb trail

The header always tells you clearly which section of the site you are currently in. The 'breadcrumb trail' (the dark bar across, saying "You are here: ...") helps you to find out easily where in the site you are, and to navigate. The underlined items in the 'breadcrumb trail' function as links - by clicking them you can easily move between different levels in the site. All links throughout the site (except for the 'breadcrumb trail') are red (and not underlined).

Getting back (home or up one level)

So, in summary: you can always click on the banner with my name at the top to get back to the home page.

By clicking the section header (the box at the top underneath the banner, in one of the six rainbow colours) you can always get back to the main page of a section.

Or you can use the (underlined) links in the 'breadcrumb trail' to get back home or up one or two levels.

Getting back to the top

On most long pages (those that require scrolling), the simplest way to get back to the top is the little red arrow button on the right, just inside the frame. Clicking that will take you back to the top of the current page.

The quick-overview pages

Show Printer Icon

There are two pages - Site Overview and What's New - that allow you to view key information in all sections at a glance. By moving your mouse in turn over each of the six (or eight) table cells highlighted in yellow (see arrows in picture below), an overview over the relevant section is shown in the window in the centre of the page. If you are not sure which cells to hover your mouse over, go to the questionmark at the top right corner, and all the cells will be highlighted in yellow.

Downloading

Download Adobe Reader here:

Adobe Reader

There are currently four kinds of files for download:

ordinary images: jpgs (compatible with both Mac and PC)

Adobe Reader pdf files - to download

Microsoft Word doc files, and

Microsoft PowerPoint ppt files.

Some of the latter ones are compressed into archives as zip files (these should automatically be un-archived on download).

It is likely that at some point in the future there will be videos and mp3s.

Web Design: the pitfalls ....

There are many - for those intrepid explorers who do want to do their own website, I will at some point write up what I have learnt, when I'm not completely snowed under by doing the design.
