The Six Dales Walk

The junior competition is designed to encourage younger people to enter and runs alongside the main competition. It starts at Settle and follows the route listed finishing at Lofthouse. Please read these rules carefully.  

 

AWARDS

Team trophies are awarded in the categories listed below. For trophy purposes a Team is defined as one which includes a minimum of 4 competitors under 15 who have covered the distance together. The winners are teams which either cover the full distance in the shortest time or, if no team finishes, walk the greatest distance in the shortest time. A team  may only win one trophy in a year. All competitors who reach Kilnsey (12 Miles) will also receive a certificate.

 

CATEGORIES

 

All competitors must be members of the Scout or Guide Associations or actively connected with either association.

 

 Trophies in this competition will be awarded to teams with a minimum of 4 competitors under 15 in the following categories

 

                        Under 15’s    (No leader)

                        Under 15’s    (Leader led)

 Open             Under 15’s    (All teams will be automatically entered for this trophy)

 

 

A team in this competition may contain up to 2 members aged 15 or over who will count towards the maximum  number in the team although they would not be eligible to go on the trophy.

 

Minimum age of entry is normally 12. Younger members of the Scout and Guide sections, however, may take part provided that :-

 

‘a’, they are in a team which, at all times, contains one adult aged 18 or over.

 

Or       ‘b’ there are not more than two in a team which contains at least two members aged 14 or                         above. All ages are at the day of the Walk.
