The Six Dales Walk
27th September 2009

The Six Dales Walk has been held every year (foot and mouth excepted) since 1957.
A challenge for teams (min. 4, max. 7) of members of the Scout and Guide Associations,
it traverses 42 miles of Yorkshire's most beautiful countryside, from Ribblesdale
to the Vale of York, following Rights of Way over well-
The event encourages team spirit and safe fell walking procedures, with the added stimulus of competition and the comradeship of a team activity. Prior Surveying of the route is recommended and is an ideal opportunity for Leaders to train their Scouts and Guides in map reading and fell walking skills.
Completion of the full 42 miles may well be beyond the ability of most competitors, but they will still find satisfaction in achieving as much as they can.
