 Great Holiday Experiences

If anyone has been on holiday and found somewhere which was particularly welcoming and helpful with respect to their child(ren) with SEN, and they would like to recommend them to other parents, we would like to put these on our website.  Please bare in mind that the needs of individual families are different, and we can only go by what another parent has said - we have not tried the holiday ourselves!  Please email me at  angela.daffada@ntlworld.com.  if you would like to add something.

The Thomas Centre

"We visited the Thomas Centre near Louth in Lincolnshire in February half term.  We received a warm welcome from Richard who is the father of Thomas (the inspiration for the holiday centre, now 18 years old) who showed us to our two bedroom house.  The accomodation is converted barns and of very high standard and a fantastic welcome pack and one thing which I really enjoyed due to the big Lincolnshire skies was watch sun rise and sunset from the arched bedroom window.  The Centre has a number of self contained units including two three bungalows so are also suitable for the less mobile. It also offers a very nice heated swimming pool with changing rooms and shower which families can book for their private use, a large trampoline which is at ground level, a resource room which is well stocked with reading matter, lots of toys for the children, kitchen and big table so families can get together and eat together if they want to, a football pitch, a huge playbarn with table football, snooker and a bowling alley and an outside play area, woods to walk in, they are also putting an adventure playground in this Spring too.  We spent most of our break actually at the Centre as they was so much to do and Zach loved being there but we did visit the coast which was a beautiful expanse of sand, very clean and definately worth a visit It was a really special trip and we definitely plan to return in the not to distant future".

First Choice Holidays:
"First Choice couldn't do enough. On our return journey Mason believed he would be sitting in the exact seat he sat in flying out. It turned out he had been given the set the other end of that line which meant it was a different seat. He was very distressed about this and First choice cabin crew got passemgers to swap with him so he could sit in the same seat. They then said they would do anything they could to help him, even asking if we wanted a 'buggy' to collect him when we got off the plane. They were very understanding."

Happy Kids Holidays
It is a non profit making organisation which caters for families with a child with Autism and ASD on holiday in France.  The website is great and explains all about what they do and what services they offer.  www.happykidsholidays.com
