Match Report on Beamers B v Footwork 31st May

This match took place at 7.30 in the evening. We started out fairly

Sluggishly in this match. We took an early lead but by half time

Footwork pulled back so that we were level at 9-9 by half time. The

fact that we hadn't played as a full team for three weeks was showing,

but luckily we were still warming up. We dug in and varied our game at

the attacking end, when play resumed. We scored about two goals to

every one that Footwork scored and we were left with a very satisfying

24-15 win.

Beamers B vs. Sharp Shooters

After a last minute scramble for the Beamers B to obtain a further two players to complete the team the game was ready to play.  Sharp Shooters were on form and quickly gained a lead.  Beamers seemed to be chasing their tails as the opposing teams goals piled in.  With a lack of tactics and no strong attack there was some doubt as to whether  Beamers B would ever get a score line. Finally after much sweating and puffing a ball made its way into the circle and the substitute GS (I apologise for not knowing her name) bought the score to 1-11.  In the second half there was more pummelling to endure and as the team became more and more dejected the last two goals were barely noted.

The final score…..Sharp Shooters 22 vs. Beamers B 3

Beamers B 14 v Panthers 22

There was huge excitement about this match for the Beamers. We knew that to try and get into the top four (at the very least), we would need to beat this team, and knew it was going to be a tough job.

With only six of us on the team at present and with the A team playing at the same time as us we had to borrow a player from NAO Team (Michelle).

The match began and was level pegging for the first half. Very even play with no particular team in domination of the game. Whenever one or the other of the teams got ahead, they didn’t stay ahead for too long. This aspect of the game was reflected in the 10-10 score at half time.

The second half was ushered in with a change in the Panthers line up. One of their players (GD) arrived late and took up her position and a couple of other players went back to their proper positions. Needless to say this made the game much harder for the Beamers. With the Panthers back in their proper positions they were able to maintain and stretch the lead they built up. The Beamers (B team) rallied towards to the end of the second half but too late to make up the unassailable gap built up by the Panthers. Final score Panthers 22 Beamers B 14.
