Temple Area

Having a temple or central place of worship at the heart of the camp is very important to us and at our very first Krishna Camp we were blessed with the presence of Sri-Sri Radha Krishna, Gaur-Nitai, Krishna Balaram, and Srila Prabhupada deities. With the help of Mohan, we constructed an altar with wood we found on site and decorated the space with beautiful, ornate sarees, natural flowers and foliage from the nearby woods, and various auspicious items we had brought along with us.

Everyone had an opportunity to swing Their Lordships to the rhythm of sweet, melodious kirtan. It was lovely to be able to celebrate this in such a beautiful and natural setting together.

We also celebrated Lord Balaram’s Appearance Day - with abhishek for the deities (a ceremony where Krishna and Balaram were bathed with milk, yoghurt, ghee, honey and fruit juices).

We kept the worship simple but regular and would definitely like to increase the amount of aratis and offerings to Their Lordships at future camps. We welcome hearing from anyone who would like to get involved in any of these services.

Jhulan Yatra, the Swing Festival, was celebrated at the camp. Every afternoon our Radha Krishna deities were brought out and placed on Their specially decorated swing.

Later a wonderful feast was prepared and offered to Their Lordships. It was an exhilarating experience where devotees and friends enjoyed the beautiful sights, sounds of enthusiastic kirtan and bhajans and relished delicious prasadam.
