" Used condition,"
mellow paint finish
Dapple finish on a safety stand which was patented in 1878 in the U.S. and
1880 in England (although the bow rocker still proved more popular until the early 1900's).
The dapple paintwork can be light or dark grey, with or without an
'antique' finish. There is also an option of having the head turned to one
side or looking straight ahead. The stirrup irons are made in silver and
the tack is leather, trimmed with the tiniest brass studs. Choice of saddle cloth
colours in suede (red, navy blue and dark green).

Other alternatives to the standard safety rocking is to have the addition of
pommels for side saddle riding (as shown - above left), or the distressed 'well
loved' and hence well ridden horse (as shown - above right). This horse
has thinning and missing hair (just like my husband's!), worn paintwork and
leather on a 'worm holed' stand. This horse would also sit well in a 20th
century contemporary dolls house.
